As part of Design Event, Liam Murray and Colin Davies - OneNineFour Studio are putting on an exhibition in The Shed. The work is a continuation of a Gateshead Council commission, titled Gateshead In One, in which the artists have painted a number of shutters on and around Gateshead High Street.
Opening tomorrow, Friday 14 October from 6-9.
Just found this beautiful, secret little garden. Only lived along the road from it for 21years of my life!
Design Event opens tonight with Noma Bar at The Baltic.
” Award winning graphic artist Noma Bar will be creating an amazing, interactive art-making machine for his event, ‘Cut It Out’. Featuring a specially commissioned, Heath Robinson-esque embossing device /sculpture in the shape of a giant dog, visitors can feed paper, rubber and other materials into its mouth to produce their own cut-out Noma Bar prints.” - Design Event.
Can not wait!
Wooden buildings.
Bournemouth
These are the long-awaited drawings I made for ‘Grow’, an exhibition I made work for, in Gateshead at the beginning of the year. They are all based on drawings and studies I did when I visited the traditional wooden boat-builders at the North East Maritime Trust.

I was in London at the weekend. We ended up in a members-only club lit only by candlelight and cucumber-water (try it, it’s amazing) on the tables, playing music from the 1920s-1940s and it felt like (what I imagine) was just like a speakeasy from the time of prohibition in the 1920s.
I thought I could do the Charleston.
As it stands I wasn’t so great at it and the throbbing vein in that bald man’s head told me so.
Last week after months of painting, being rained on, snowed on, repairing leaks, weather-watching, tea drinking, pink hair, blue hands and numb feet I finally finished painting my shop shutter for Gateshead Council commissioned project Shop Art.
Big thanks to helpers, tea-makers and kind word-sayers.
You can see my work at 336 High Street South, Gateshead, NE8 1EN.

I’ve had an exciting day looking at photos of robots, eating avocado and toast and drawing lines and circles.
I’ve also been looking through all my sketchbooks for something I wrote down months ago which I didn’t find. Bummer. BUT I did find loads of drawings I’ve done since I moved into the studio. I’ll try to upload them over the next few days/hours/week/months/however long it takes so that you can see what I’ve been up to.
Watch this space.
